Keep Your Talk Fresh! Presentation Techniques for Scientists

Dozenten

Beschreibung

Lecturer: Guido Molina, impulsplus, Krefeld
is a trainer for effective communication and presentation techniques. As a professional actor, director and theatre pedagogue (BUT) with more than 25 years of experience in theatre, film and television, he is an expert in physical theatre, voice and breathing. His theatrical tools help him to foster empathic communication with the participants of his workshops, and through didactically thoughtful and participatory methods he creates individualised processes that help them build self-confidence, fluency in verbal and non-verbal communication and their own presentation style.

Content:
Most young researchers are stuck using standard narrative styles and formats of communicating the results of their work, but often they want to try something new. Presentations, pitches or networking approaches rarely vary from the “known to the unknown” in a compelling way and one may want to know how to lead people forward to a memorable impact. The workshop introduces unique ways of positioning a topic or an idea and structuring content by exploring and presenting in a variety of story formats. Central characters, motivation, storyline, action, dramatic tension, transitions and a satisfying conclusion are aspects of the playful investigation. Storylines are developed, practiced and presented with coaching and feedback.

Topics:
• Position the research with a meaningful and relevant story
• Tailor the story to the audience
• Start a story with a strong opening to get the audience involved
• Create clear and identifiable characters and environment
• Build suspense with the narrative and move towards a clear aim
• Economize the language and get to the point
• Use active language and identify key points
• Craft the story and build towards a dynamic conclusion
