Current Research in Animal Behaviour and Comparative Psychology

Beschreibung

This course gives an overview on current research, methods, writing-tools, data bases used in the research group Comparative BioCognition, with a special focus on cognitive skills (e.g. empathy, prosocial behaviours, learning) and communication (e.g., gestures, vocalizations, turn-taking). It is intended for CBC-members, and advanced Bachelor's and Master's students. Students who are writing a Bachelor's or Master's thesis in the Comparative BioCogntion group should also attend this course to get feedback on their research.
In the sessions, there will be a lot of information concerning scientific presentations, format, style and scientific writing, so regular attendance is crucial.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, students will
(1) have an understanding of current projects and used scientific methods of the CBC,
(2) be able to give a scientific overview of a scientific paper, and
(3) be able to write a scientific abstract and an extended abstract.
