Beschreibung

In this block course, you will gain insight into the work life of a software engineer. If you are interested in a career in software engineering (especially in the area of AI) and are looking for a course to prepare you, this is the right choice for you! The course is offered by four Osnabrück-based startups (VisioLab, deeplair, greenWai, and 4eign talents), specialized in AI and software engineering.

The course content is designed to provide an overview of the entire development cycle: from the idea to robust code and models serving real people. It covers topics such as project management, the use of Git and other development tools, ML experiment design and execution, and finally the deployment.

In an in-person block course during the last week of February, we will dive into these topics, with a mixture of lectures and hands-on exercises. At the end of the block course, participants can choose one of four projects to complete in close collaboration with one of the startups throughout March. The projects will revolve around a real problem from the business domain the start-ups are working in and you get the opportunity to apply what you learned on real data!

This course is intended for advanced bachelor's or master's students with coding experience. You should have some background in Python and machine learning; knowledge of deep learning would be a plus (recommended courses: Scientific Python, Machine Learning, optional: Implementing ANNs with TensorFlow). The grade is based 85% on the project outcome, focusing on the group's methodology, and 15% on a final presentation about the project. Since there is a limit of 24 participants, please register only if you are genuinely interested in completing the course.
