On Bousfield localizations of the motivic stable category

Let K be a perfect field. We will review the formalism of Bousfield homology localizations of the stable motivic homotopy category over K. Under some strong but reasonable assumptions on the homology theory, we will outline a relation between the homology localization and the nilpotent completion of a spectrum associated with a given homology theory. Finally we will outline some applications and some possible new directions in view of algebraic K-theory localizations.
