$F$-rationality of determinantal rings and their Rees rings

Abstract: We show that Rees rings of determinantal ideals (and related objects)
are F-rational in non-exceptional characteristics. Our
approach is based on the filtration induced by the
straightening law and the semigroup ring structure on the
weights occurring in the filtration.
